Folk who've switched to me usually tell me the same things went wrong last time. Here's how it works with me:
- Changes done quickly. Send small changes by text, WhatsApp or email and they're done within 48 hours — usually within a few hours.
- Enquiries that reach you. The form on your site comes straight to your inbox. Before it goes live we send a test through together, so you see it land.
- Your web address stays in your name. It's registered to your business, not to me. Send me the login, or add me to the account, and I'll take it from there — including the calls to your old provider, wherever they'll deal with me.
- Your email keeps working. If you've got an address on your domain (like info@), I set it up again before anything's switched over, so new mail keeps arriving.
- It gets cheaper, not dearer. £50 a month for the build and the hosting. You can see every payment, and they stop by themselves after the 24th. Then the site's yours, and if you'd like me to keep hosting and looking after it, it drops to £20 a month.

John already had a website. A directory company had put it together for him, and there wasn't a single photo of his own work on it. The replacement was written and built out of his own Instagram, his own captions and his own customer reviews.

Small changes, about 30 minutes of work a month, are included. Email a change over and it's done within 48 hours — usually within a few hours. And when you'd rather do it yourself: on suitable builds GrantOps can include a private password-protected panel for your business, kept apart from the website, for the sections we agree up front — photo and project galleries, and products and prices on shop builds. Other sections can be quoted.
You edit the approved content; the layout, branding and mobile design stay as we built them. Nothing changes on your website until you press publish, and you can undo an update. Photo and project gallery editing is already delivered and in use for KAP Joinery.

That £50 a month pays for designing and building your site, hosting it, and small changes when you need them. There's no separate build bill, no deposit and no setup fee. And it's 24 payments, not forever — once they're made the £50 stops and you either keep me on at £20 a month or take your site wherever you like. It's yours.

How much does a website cost?
£50 a month for the build and the hosting, with small content updates and support included — no deposit and no setup fee. It runs for two years: once all 24 payments are made the website is yours, and after that £20/month care is optional. You can see a free mockup of your site before you pay a penny. If you need something bigger — an online shop, bookings, a members area — tell me and I'll quote it.

Small content updates are included, on suitable builds you get a simple admin panel to change the agreed sections yourself, and you get a direct line to me.
How long does it take to build?
It depends on how quickly you can get me your content — photos, services and any copy you already have. The build itself is not the bottleneck; waiting on content usually is. Start with the free mockup: you'll see a real design of your site before you commit to anything, and that's normally the fastest way to get moving. I'll reply within 4 working hours, Mon–Fri.
Do I actually own the website?
Yes. The website is yours once all 24 payments are made — the £20/month care plan after that is optional, not a condition of keeping your site.
What if I want to leave?
The £50/month plan runs for a minimum of 24 payments, because that is what pays for the build instead of an upfront fee; end it early and hosting stops, the site comes down and the remaining payments stay due. Your first payment is fully refundable for 14 days from the day it is taken, so there's a real window to change your mind. Once all 24 are made the site is yours and the £20/month care plan that follows has no contract — leave anytime and the site stays yours. If a two-year commitment isn't for you, I'd rather tell you that up front than have you find it in the terms.
Can the site take bookings?
Yes — wiring up the booking, newsletter and review tools you already own is included in every build: Calendly, Cal.com, Square Appointments, Fresha, Booksy, Treatwell. The account stays in your name. That matters, because resellers hand you their booking platform — so the day you stop paying, your calendar leaves with them. Here the tools were always yours. Bespoke work like member areas, calculators or a direct API integration is quoted separately.
Do I need to update anything?
No. Your site is custom-coded as plain pages built in advance, so there are no plugins, add-ons or themes for you to keep up to date, and nothing for you to install or patch. I look after the site for you. If you want something changed, send it over: small changes, about 30 minutes of work a month, are included in the plan.
Is my website built on WordPress?
No. New sites on the £50 a month plan are custom-coded, not built on WordPress or a page builder. WordPress is the most common choice: about 4 in 10 websites run on it (W3Techs, 10 October 2026). It's a good fit when lots of people need to write and lay out their own pages, or when a business needs features from WordPress's wide range of add-ons, called plugins. WordPress itself is well looked after, and its own maintenance and security releases install automatically by default. Most of the upkeep is in the plugins and themes added on top, which usually don't update themselves unless someone switches that on, or the host does it for you. A trade or small business site usually needs photos, prices and opening hours rather than plugins, so I build without them, and there's nothing for you to keep updated. I've run WordPress sites on AWS for an infrastructure client, so this is a choice, not a gap. And if you already have a WordPress site that works for you, there's no need to change it.
Can I update the site myself?
Yes. Small changes, about 30 minutes of work a month, are included. Email them across and I'll make them within 48 hours, usually within a few hours. On suitable builds I can also set up a private password-protected panel for your business. It's kept apart from the website and covers the sections we agree up front: photo and project galleries, and products and prices on shop builds. Other sections can be quoted. The panel works on your phone. In the photo panel you add a finished job, describe the photos and put them in the order you want people to see them. Nothing changes on your website until you press publish, and you can undo an update. Photo galleries are already live for KAP Joinery. It isn't a drag-and-drop page builder, so you edit the approved content while the layout, branding and mobile design stay as I built them.
