Terms of Service

Grantops Consulting Ltd — Last Updated: October 2026 (version 2026-10-23)

If you started a plan or paid a deposit before 23 October 2026, the version of these terms in force on the day you paid applies to you — ask and we will send it.

These terms of service ("Terms") govern all services provided by Grantops Consulting Ltd, a company registered in Scotland ("we", "us", "our") to you ("the Client"). By making a payment for any of our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.

1. Website Design & Build Services

1.1 What's Included

Each website build project includes the deliverables agreed upon prior to commencement. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a standard website build includes:

  • Custom website design and development
  • Mobile-responsive layout
  • Basic SEO setup (meta tags, heading structure, site architecture)
  • Contact form integration
  • Social media links
  • An agreed number of pages as specified in your quote
  • Technology selection based on project requirements. Our standard builds are static sites; if your project needs something else, such as WordPress or another custom build, we will quote it individually and agree with you in writing what its hosting includes.

1.2 What's Not Included

Unless explicitly included in your quote, the following are not covered:

  • E-commerce functionality
  • Ongoing content writing or copywriting
  • Professional photography or videography
  • Stock image licensing beyond any included in the quote
  • Third-party plugin or service subscriptions
  • Search engine advertising or paid marketing campaigns
  • Ongoing search engine optimisation (SEO) beyond the basic setup in Section 1.1
  • Social media management
  • Additional pages or functionality beyond the agreed scope
  • On the monthly route, small changes to your existing pages are included for as long as your plan runs (see Section 3.3). New pages, an online shop, or a booking system are quoted separately before any work starts. The same applies when the request comes from someone working for you, such as an SEO or advertising agency: small changes to your existing pages are included, and new pages, including landing pages for adverts, are quoted separately.

1.3 Client Responsibilities

To allow us to deliver your project on time, you agree to provide:

  • All required content (text, images, logos, branding assets) in a timely manner
  • Feedback on drafts within a reasonable timeframe
  • Access to your domain registrar and any other relevant accounts as needed
  • A nominated point of contact for project communications

Delays caused by late or incomplete content from the Client may result in a revised delivery timeline.

1.4 Revisions

Each project includes up to two rounds of revisions during the build, following the initial draft. A revision round is defined as a single set of consolidated feedback. Additional revision rounds beyond this allowance may be quoted and charged separately.

1.5 Payment Terms

Website builds are paid through the monthly website plan unless otherwise agreed in writing: £50 per month (plus VAT if we become VAT-registered — see VAT below), taken by Stripe subscription, with a minimum term of 24 monthly payments. There is no build deposit, reservation deposit or setup fee. The monthly payment covers the build together with hosting (what it includes is listed in Section 3.2), small content updates and support.

When your first monthly payment is taken. It is taken when you accept the plan: at checkout if you are buying through this website, or when you use the payment link we send you if we approached you directly and built your website before you committed to anything. Payment then recurs monthly on that same date.

What that payment starts, and what we owe you for it. From that point your domain is registered in your name, your business email address is set up on it (see Section 3.2), and your website goes live on it — within 14 days, unless we are waiting on you for content, photographs or sign-off, in which case it goes live 14 days after we tell you it is ready whether or not we have heard back. Your monthly fee covers hosting, small content updates and support from the same date, so the work does not stop at launch.

Payments are made via Stripe; card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by GrantOps Consulting. All prices are quoted in GBP (£). Work outside the scope of the monthly website plan — online shops, booking systems, member areas and other bespoke builds — is quoted individually, with payment terms agreed in writing before work commences.

VAT. Grantops Consulting Ltd is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged on your payments today. All our prices, in these Terms and in any quote we give you, are quoted exclusive of VAT. If we become registered for VAT, we will tell you in writing at least 30 days before the first payment that will include it. From the date given in that notice, which will not be before our registration date, VAT at the rate in force at the time will be added to each payment that falls due, and your receipts and invoices will show it. If the VAT rate changes, the VAT added changes with it.

1.6 Project Timeline

We will provide an estimated delivery timeline at the start of the project. While we make every reasonable effort to meet agreed timescales, timelines are estimates and not guaranteed. We will keep you informed of any expected delays.

1.7 Cancellation

  • The minimum term is 24 monthly payments. Your first payment stays fully refundable for 14 days from the day it is taken — if you change your mind in that time, tell us and we cancel the subscription and refund it in full, whether or not your website has gone live yet.
  • After that 14-day window, once work has commenced or your website is live, cancelling early ends your hosting and support and your website is taken offline. Payments already taken are non-refundable, and the balance of the 24 monthly payments remains due, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
  • If we are unable to complete the project for any reason, we will refund any payments for work not yet delivered.

1.8 Ownership & Intellectual Property

  • All content you provide (text, images, logos) remains your property.
  • Your monthly fee covers the build together with hosting, small content updates and support (see Sections 3.2 and 3.3). Ownership transfers on completion of all 24 monthly payments: at that point you own the completed website and its content outright, and we will help you move the files elsewhere if you want to. Until then we host the website, and if the plan ends early it is taken offline. Ownership does not extend to our design system, templates, or anything reusable across other clients.
  • After the 24 monthly payments, you can keep us looking after the website on our optional care plan at £20 a month. Hosting, updates, security and support continue, and the plan includes the minor content updates described in Section 3.3.
  • We reserve the right to display the completed project in our portfolio and reference it in marketing materials unless you request otherwise in writing.
  • Any third-party themes, plugins, or tools used remain subject to their own respective licences.
  • All deployment automation, infrastructure code, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code templates (including but not limited to GitHub Actions workflows, Terraform modules, and build scripts) developed as part of the project remain the intellectual property of GrantOps Consulting Ltd unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing. These assets are used to provision and manage the client's environment; the client receives the resulting infrastructure, documentation, and hosted service — not the underlying proprietary code. The client receives a licence to benefit from this code for the operation of their website for the duration of their hosting agreement.

2. Cloud & Infrastructure Services

2.1 Service Overview

Our cloud and infrastructure services include AWS setup, migration, optimisation, and ongoing management. The specific deliverables depend on the scope agreed in your project brief and quote.

2.2 What You Own

  • Your AWS account and all resources deployed within it (servers, databases, storage, etc.)
  • Your data, content, and application code
  • Domain names and SSL certificates registered in your name

2.3 What We Retain

All deployment automation, infrastructure-as-code templates, proprietary Terraform modules, CI/CD pipelines, build scripts, configuration management code, and related tooling developed as part of the project remain the intellectual property of GrantOps Consulting Ltd. These assets are used to provision and manage the client’s environment; the client receives the resulting infrastructure, documentation, and managed service — not the underlying proprietary code.

This is analogous to hiring an architect: you own the building, but not the architect’s proprietary design methodology and tooling.

2.4 Payment Terms

Cloud, infrastructure and app builds are quoted individually. A deposit is normally required before work commences; payment terms, including any staged payments, are agreed in writing before work starts. Deposits are not paid through the website checkout. For ongoing management retainers, billing is monthly via Stripe subscription. Card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by GrantOps Consulting.

3. Managed Website Hosting

3.1 Service Overview

With managed hosting, we host your website for you on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with Cloudflare in front of it, and look after it as set out in this section. Our hosting page describes the service, but Section 3.2 is the definitive list of what hosting includes. If the hosting page, or anything else we publish, describes it differently, these Terms apply, and anything not listed in Section 3.2 is included only if we have agreed it with you in writing.

3.2 What Hosting Includes

Starter Managed Hosting (£20/month) includes the following. The same list applies to the hosting that comes with the monthly website plan, which your monthly payment covers (see Section 1.5).

  • Hosting on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with Cloudflare in front of your website for Cloudflare's standard protection against floods of junk traffic (DDoS attacks) and for caching
  • An SSL certificate (the HTTPS padlock), issued and renewed automatically, with its expiry date checked every day
  • A 60-day change history: earlier versions of every file on your website are kept for 60 days, so a mistake can be rolled back (see Section 3.6)
  • A check of your website and its certificate every morning, with an alert to us if your website is down
  • Messages from your website's enquiry form sent straight to your inbox (or to another address we agree with you)
  • Email: an info@ address on your website's domain, forwarded to the inbox you already use. If you ask, we will also set up one mailbox so you can send email from that address. If you already have email on your domain that you want to keep, we leave it as it is. Extra mailboxes, for example for staff, are charged separately.
  • Small content updates, such as text changes, photo swaps and small tweaks: about 30 minutes of work a month (see Section 3.3)
  • Support from us by email or phone (see Section 4.4)

The monthly website plan also includes a simple admin panel for the sections of your website we agree with you in writing, on builds that suit one.

3.3 Content Updates

Hosting includes minor content updates such as changing text, swapping images, or small adjustments to existing pages. This is limited to approximately 30 minutes of work per calendar month.

Larger changes — including new pages, design changes, additional features, or structural modifications — fall outside this allowance and will be quoted separately. Unused update time does not roll over between months.

3.4 Payment & Billing

Hosting is billed monthly via recurring Stripe subscription. Your subscription begins on the date your website goes live or on the date agreed in writing. On the monthly website plan, Section 1.5 sets out when payments start instead. Payments are taken automatically each month. Hosting prices are exclusive of VAT — see VAT in Section 1.5. It is your responsibility to ensure your payment method remains valid and up to date.

3.5 Service Availability

We aim to maintain maximum uptime for all hosted websites. However, we do not guarantee 100% availability. Occasional downtime may occur due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Your website is checked once every morning, not continuously, so downtime may not be spotted until the next check. We are not liable for any loss of business, revenue, or data arising from website downtime.

3.6 Change History & Data

Your hosting keeps a 60-day change history: when a file on your website is changed or deleted, the earlier version is kept for 60 days, so a mistake can be rolled back. We also keep a separate copy of your website's code, with its history of changes. While we take reasonable care to maintain these, we strongly recommend you also keep your own copies of any critical content. We are not liable for data loss in the event that the change history or that copy fails.

3.7 Cancellation & Termination

  • On a hosting plan taken on its own, or on the optional hosting you can keep once all 24 monthly payments of the website plan have been made, you may cancel at any time by giving 30 days' written notice (email is acceptable). This does not apply during the website plan's 24-month minimum term: cancelling then is covered by Section 1.7.
  • When you cancel a hosting plan under the clause above, we will provide you with a full export of your website files and content so you can migrate to another provider.
  • If your payment fails and is not resolved within 14 days, we reserve the right to suspend hosting. If not resolved within 30 days, we may terminate the service and remove website files from our servers, though we will make reasonable efforts to contact you before doing so.

4. General Terms

4.1 Limitation of Liability

Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of profit, revenue, data, or business opportunity.

4.2 Third-Party Services

Your website may rely on third-party services (domain registrars, email providers, plugins, payment processors, etc.). We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or terms of any third-party service.

4.3 Confidentiality

We will treat all information you provide as confidential and will not share it with third parties, except where necessary to deliver the agreed services (for example, setting up your domain or email).

4.4 Communication

Our primary communication channels are email, phone and WhatsApp. We aim to respond to all queries within 2 business days. Support is provided during standard UK business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm).

4.5 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make changes that materially affect your rights, we will notify you in writing. Continued use of our services after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

4.6 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
